Dobama Theatre is excited to offer adult education opportunities in the form of professional development. The first of these is the Directing Workshop, coming the summer of 2026.

Want to learn about directorial expectations in an Equity space? Come meet other potential collaborators and gain insight into a full professional process, from pre-production to opening, tablework to tech!
This program is recommended for artists who have some directing experience in community, semi-professional, and/or educational settings, creating or self-producing work.
Four Mondays from 6:30-9pm
June 29, July 6, July 13, July 20
COST: $90 per session plus registration fee (financial assistance available)
Application will be open from Feb 15th to March 15th, 2026.
Application does not guarantee admittance into the program, we will reach back out after the due date to confirm attendence and to make payment arrangements.
Presenter
Carrie Williams is Dobama Theatre’s Director of Education. She recently directed the sold out productions of WITCH (2025) and POTUS or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive (2024) at Dobama. Other recent projects include Word Play (Performance Studies International Brazil), I Wear My Dead Sister’s Clothes (BorderLight Fringe), The Witches (Test Flight), I Stumbled Through A Magic Portal and All I Got Was This Dumb Tshirt (Party of 5), Apo in the Sky (Talespinner Children’s Theatre).
Since 2018 she has produced the Marilyn Bianchi Kids’ Playwriting Festival, an yearly event that involves organizing 40-50 adult artists (directors, actors, designers, etc) to simultaneously stage between 8 and 12 short plays (all written by local youth).
